Description
A Transitional Salinar-Mochica Portrait Vessel Peru, c. 200 BC-200 AD Smoothly modeled earthenware. A stirrup handle and spout portrait head vessel with a variegated burnished red-brown slip, cream-colored paints on one side of nose-mouth area, proper right cheek, and pupils of eyes. The interesting face has large eyes and ears, etched chevrons at eyebrows, similarly etched around base of spout. In very good condition, a small repair at top of spout, firing cloud on back of head, a tiny test hole on underside. Height: 8 inches
