A Transitional Salinar-Mochica Portrait Vessel Peru, c. 200 BC-200 AD Smoothly modeled earthenware. A stirrup handle and spout portrait head vessel with a variegated burnished red-brown slip, cream-colored paints on one side of nose-mouth area, proper right cheek, and pupils of eyes. The interesting face has large eyes and ears, etched chevrons at eyebrows, similarly etched around base of spout.
