Pre-Columbian, Peru, northern coastal region, Recuay, ca. 100 BCE to 400 CE. Large double-sided canteen vessel depicting a stylized human head. Wide toothy grin, face painted in reddish-brown on a cream ground, flared rim. A lovely and rare vessel! Size: 9.75" H (24.8 cm)
