Description
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA MERCHANT'S STAMPED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-pint capacity, cylindrical form with squared rim, beaded neck, and brown-glazed interior. Stamped "MADE FOR / WRIGHT, SMITH & PEARSALL. / No 5 NORTH 5 ST. / PHILADELPHIA", with brushed cobalt decorations including feather design around stamp and horizontal flower repeated two times to reverse, additional cobalt across stamp. Possibly the Richard C. Remmey pottery. Circa 1875. 6 3/4" H, 3 3/4" D rim.
