Description

JOHN BROWN WALKER (PENNSYLVANIA / OHIO, 1815-1908), ATTRIBUTED, FOLK ART CUT-WORK / SCHERENSCHNITTE, small cut design in red, blue, and embossed gold-toned layered paper, featuring heart, foliate, and scrolled motifs, unsigned. Housed under UV glass in an old folk art mold frame having scrolling foliate vine decoration with a black and dark green finish. Fourth quarter 19th century. 2 3/4" x 3 5/8" object, 9 3/8" x 11 1/8" OA.
Good visual condition with some losses to gold-toned finish on embossed paper, and some short creases/tears. Frame with wear and a few flakes/chips to molding, slight separation at corners, possibly cut-down. Not examined out of frame.
Provenance: The collection of the late Theodore "Ted" and Alvina Breckel, Oley, PA and Winnetka, IL.

Condition
