Description
Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period, 18th to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 664 BCE. A petite, mold-formed faience plaque amulet of a rectangular form with rounded corners. The topside features a stylized, right-facing fish with a large dorsal fin and a tapered head swimming towards an abstract linear form. The bottom face of the amulet features a pair of ankhs flanking a slender object - perhaps a handheld mirror or a sistrum - with the head and horns of the goddess Hathor displayed front and center. Enveloped in layers of green and turquoise glaze, this is a miniscule example of majestic Egyptian artistry! Size: 0.4" L x 0.3" W (1 cm x 0.8 cm)
