Description
Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, reign of Thutmose III, ca. 1479 to 1425 BCE. A stunning, mold-formed faience scaraboid amulet of a petite size that is glazed in layers of blue-green hues. The ovoid amulet features a highly stylized wadjet (also wedjat, Eye of Horus) on the topside with a large iris and pupil, incised upper lashes, and a lengthy lower lash that curls at the tip. The bottom face depicts several glyphs - including a game board and a bowl - along with the enclosed cartouche of Pharaoh Thutmose III on the righthand side. Size: 0.6" L x 0.375" W (1.5 cm x 1 cm)
