Western Europe, Spain, ca. 17th century CE. An attractive pottery canteen of discoid form. Sitting upon four petite feet, the lovely vessel boasts a circular body that is flat on two sides and has a slender, tubular neck with a cork stopper. A pair of raised handles flanks the neck, each handle featuring a horizontal drill hole for suspension. Coated in a glistening shade of burnt orange glaze, the exterior of the canteen is decorated on both flat sides with a hunter green motif of a circle encompassing the abstract figure of a lion, while the vessel's peripheries are adorned with decorative dots. A raised horizontal band is featured on the neck. Size: 7.375" W x 10" H (18.7 cm x 25.4 cm)

Condition
A few minor nicks/chips to handles, feet, peripheries, and cork stopper. Some light scratches/abrasions commensurate with age. Otherwise, intact and excellent with impressive remaining pigments.
