Scarce, revelatory, and somewhat controversial first-hand account of the Texas rebellion. The first fifty pages are a forward by editor Jes?s S?nchez Garza, the remainder of the work prints the manuscript entitled: "Rese?a y Diario de la Campa?a de Texas, de Jos? Enrique de la Pe?a. Matamoros, Tamps. 15 de septiembre de 1836". No copies are listed in OCLC.

De la Pe?a's first narrative "The Texas Rebellion" was first published in 1955 a few months before the second. The work ignited an important and deep controversy regarding Davy Crockett, by claiming that he did not die bravely in the Battle of the Alamo, American historians vigorously argued that it was a forgery. However, the most energetic defender of the document, the historian James Crisp, found an 1839 pamphlet by De la Pe?a in which he said that he was preparing his diary for publication, proving that he did have a historical basis for thinking that the manuscript was original. Finally, in 2001, archivist David Gracy published a detailed analysis of the manuscript, including laboratory results. He found that the paper and ink were of the type used by the Mexican army in the 1830s and that the handwriting matched that of other documents in the Mexican military archives written or signed by De la Pe?a.
