Marion Huse (American, 1896-1967), two works, the first: "Woman in White in Garden", oil on canvas, signed LL, portrait of young woman with brown hair and white bow, figure wears a white dress with arms folded, background is an abstract garden with green, white, and red, unframed, wear/loss to edges, abrasions to figure's face, small hole above figure's white bow, 23 ¼" h. x 19" w.; along with "Quiet Head Of Woman", oil on cardboard, unsigned, woman with brown hair and dark eyes, lips blend into skin, rosy cheeks, figure wears a brown dress with a white collar, blue background, unframed, wear to edges predominately LL and LR corners, areas of discoloration, abrasions with small areas of paint loss, 24" h. x 20" w. [Works by Marion Huse are currently being offered at Vose Galleries and Childs Gallery, and have been sold by Spanierman Gallery in the past. This work was given to the Brockton Art Museum (MA) by the artist's husband, Dr. Robert Barstow; the BAM in turn gifted the Huse Collection to the New Britain Museum of American Art which later chose to sell some Huse works through auction at Winter Associates, Inc., CT]
