Description

United States,20th Century
Depicts a woman wearing a wide brimmed hat with her child watching a performance with an actor and clown by the ocean. The Chase's Theater and Rigg's Building, also known as the Keith-Albee Theater, was a historic theater built by Jules Henri de Sibour for Plimpston B. Chase. Chase sold the theater to B. F. Kieth and was added to the vaudeville circuit where William Howard Taft attended the 1912 opening and Woodrow Wilson regularly attended shows. Similar tile murals have sold at Sotheby's.

From the collection of a Rumford, Rhode Island gentleman. The mural was salvaged from Chase's Theater and Rigg's Building, Washington, D. C.

Condition

Craquelure, areas of rust stains, repairs, fading, one tile has been replaced with blank, losses to some tiles, some losses to images, please refer to photographs.
