1) Henry W. Smith for services in Captain Smith[x=#129/]fs Company 1836. For $24. It is thought that Henry Smith traveled to Nacogdoches, Texas, with his father on a trip to purchase land in 1835. Henry followed with the troops that his father brought from Tennessee and Alabama to fight against Mexico. They arrived at Nacogdoches in March 1836, and Henry served in the cavalry troop of General Smith from April 11 until July 23, 1836. In the aftermath of the battle of San Jacinto, he, with his father's troops, faced the enemy in the Victoria area with Gen. Thomas J. Rusk. [biography by Stevens] 2) John Sinclair. Date is written [x=#129/]e1835[x=#129/]f with a [x=#129/]e0[x=#129/]f hand written over the [x=#129/]e6[x=#129/]h making the date [x=#129/]e1830[x=#129/]f or 1836[x=#129/]f. Letter in 1853 attached puts Sinclair in the Parrish of De Soto in the state of Louisiana. (Letter is glued to Debt paper, but almost totally detached.)
