1) Number 1209 with ten coupons [x=#8211/] all signed by Charles Demorse of the Teas Stock Commission in 1940. Vignettes include allegorical lady, mill and Texas star. Issued to C. Conroy. The Commissioner tasked with funding the republic's mounting public debt. Endorsed on back. 2-3) Issued to Charles Demorse. Vignettes include cattle, Texas star, steamboat. Demorse was an editor, publisher, statesman, soldier, public official, lawyer, merchant, and farmer. In 1836 he fought with the Texas army. In 1862 he was a colonel of the 29th Cavalry. He was the commanding officer at Poison Springs where a federal advance was stopped. He was first mayor of Clarksville. All have multiple cut cancellations and some discoloration.
