Description
American, second quarter 19th century. Domed brown tooled leather steamer trunk with brass lock, and plaque engraved, "Cornelia Prime/Huntington/New York". Manufacturer's name obscured by plaque, the lock stamped "Pat Mar 69". Note: Cornelia Prime (American, 1838-1923) was a New York state philanthropist, who, starting in 1914 starting making substantial donations towards the development of Huntington Hospital. She would eventually underwrite the full cost of constructing a new hospital. Approx. h. 19.5", w. 31.5", d. 17.5".

Overall wear to leather with cracks; handles are broken or detached; missing elements; wear to interior; key is not present; pleasing distressed appearance.
