Female figure with bisque head, likely Jules Steiner Figure A doll face, Le Parisien 17. Fixed blue glass paperweight eyes with painted lashes and feathered brows. Closed cupid mouth and pierced ears. Light brown ringlets. Composite body with internal mechanism. On wood stand with tasseled and linen curtain frame. Wood base covered in green velvet with braided trim. Wearing period light blue silk trousers with lace dress overlay. Scalloped ruffles at neck, sleeves, and hem. Swings in trapeze motion. France, c. 1880, possibly a Jules Steiner Mechanical Doll.
H. 55 cm (21 1/2 in)

Condition

Figure in very good condition with wear consistent with age. Fraying to linen curtain fabric. Split to wood in frame at top and minor loss at base. Does function but extent of functionality not tested. Condition report available upon request.
