Description

A carved wooden fetish idol "N'kishi" in traditional form, adorned with glass beads, animal horn and woven grass skirt. Such idols were commissioned by the village shaman or "Nganga" who assembled the bishimba, the powerful organic matter made of animal, plant, and mineral substances. The addition of this sacred matter allowed the nkishi to become a conduit for spiritual forces.A very fine Songye Miniature figure on base. ** Note the old collection numbers** The figure measures 7 inches tall ( 8 inches tall on base) Provenance: Ex.
