6th-3rd century BC. A plano-convex bone spindle whorl with incised circles and ring-and-dot motifs to the upper face. Cf. Moscati, S., I Fenici, Milano, 1988, pp.125,420-421, for identical buttons found in the grave 1802 of Villaricos, near Madrid. 10.6 grams, 35mm (1 1/2"). From the private collection of a medical professional; formerly in the collection of Hikmat and Madeleine Nassif, formed between 1933-1987. [No Reserve]
