Description
Egypt, Late Period - Early Ptolemaic, ca. 4th-3rd century BC. An imposing upper section of a wood sarcophagus lid depicting the upper torso and head of an Egyptian woman. Painted all over with images of the Horus falcon, bands of papyrus garlands, vulture headdress, and indications of braided hair. An attractive example. Custom base, painted with the (collection?) number 1809.
Ex: Collection of Joseph St. Mark (1915-1993). Collected in the 1950s-60s. Family affadavit available to winning bidder.
