Mediterranean, Egyptian-Romano to Byzantine era, ca. 3rd century BCE to 6th century CE. Ancient glass and carnelian stone beads strung on modern gold-plated silver ear hooks and band as wearable earrings and matching ring. The earrings are assembled on pin findings and secured to modern 85% to 90% silver and gold plated ear hooks. The ring is comprised of a modern U-shaped band 96% silver plated with gold with coiled filigree wire and a fused golden glass bead. In antiquity these golden beads were fabricated by layering colorless glass over gold foil. Size of earrings w/ hooks: 1.5" L (3.8 cm); carnelian beads: 0.27" Diameter (0.7 cm); ring band opening: 0.75" Diameter (1.9 cm) US ring size 8; combined total weight: 6.4 grams
