Description
South Italy, ca. 350 BC. An ancient Apulian red-figured amphora. The obverse with a draped female figure holding tendril in her lowered right hand and a cista in her left. She faces a standing youth leaning on a staff in his left hand with grapes in his raised right. The reverse with two standing draped youths, the one to the right clutching a staff. Tongues on the shoulders, palmettes on the neck of the obverse, laurel on the reverse, laurel on the mouth, palmettes and tendrils below the handles, details in added white.
