Title: 2 of 2 Mizuno Toshikata Woodblock Print Koto Player Meiji Era Ukiyo-e
Description: This is the second of two woodblock prints we have for auction by Mizuno Toshikata. Toshikata is known for his prints of beautiful women and genre scenes. This print shows a woman in a formal kimono and ornate hairstyle playing the koto, a Japanese harp-like instrument. The title cartouche has textured embossed paper!
Signed: Toshikata, lower right corner of print. Red seal beneath that. Pen inscription on left lower side of paper outside image with red stamp below that.
Circa: late 19th century
Dimensions: Paper 14.5x9.75 inches. Image 12.75x8.675 inches.
Condition: Light toning on paper, and some slight wear on outer edges and corners of paper. No creases, tears, pinholes, rips, insect damage, or stains!
Provenance: From the estate of a local retiree, whose grandfather collected Ukiyo-e prints throughout the 1930s.
