Title: 1 of 2 Mizuno Toshikata Woodblock Print Ukiyo-e Meiji Era
Description: This is one of two woodblock prints we have for auction by Mizuno Toshikata. Toshikata was one of the artists between the height of ukiyo-e and the rebirth of ukiyo-e in the shin-hanga movement. He is known for his genre scenes and prints of beautiful women. This print shows a genre scene, a party of three travelers resting for the night in the mountains. There are two men and one woman. This print also has an embossed title cartouche in the upper right corner!
Signed: Toshikata, lower right side of print. Red seal below that. Pen along lower left side of paper outside image, and red stamp below the pen.
Circa: late 19th century

Condition: Some toning on paper, and light wear on outer edges and corners. No tears, rips, creases, insect damage, pinholes, or stains!
Provenance: From the estate of a local retiree, whose grandfather collected Ukiyo-e prints throughout the 1930s.
