“The Natural History of the Human Race” is a popular ethnographic compilation of the post-civil war that contains information on tribes and peoples from the world including, Mongolians, American Indians, Caucasians, Africans, and more. Jeffries ethnographic compilation was overtly racist as Ellingson points out showing Jeffries comments with “the noblest study of mankind is man, writes Jeffries and for him, that study centers on showing the perfections, purity and superiority of the White Man.”
