William Simpson (British, 1823-1899). Original 1855 lithograph printed by Edmond Morin (1824-1882). Titled, "The Second Charge of the Guards When They Retook the Two Gun battery at the Battle of Inkermann," depicting the Battle of Inkerman (â€œInkermann”), fought on November 5, 1854 during the Crimean War. Originally published February 5, 1855 as part of â€œColnaghiâ€™s Authentic Series: The Seat of the War in the East.” Various printersâ€™ marks, including PAUL & DOMINIC COLNAGHI & CO., PUBLISHERS TO HER MAJESTY QUEEN VICTORIA, and DAY & SON, LITHOGRAPHERS TO THE QUEEN.
