Description
William Simpson (British, 1823-1899). Original 1855 lithograph printed by Edmond Morin (1824-1882). Titled, "The Second Charge of the Guards When They Retook the Two Gun battery at the Battle of Inkermann," depicting the Battle of Inkerman (“Inkermann”), fought on November 5, 1854 during the Crimean War. Originally published February 5, 1855 as part of “Colnaghi’s Authentic Series: The Seat of the War in the East.” Various printers’ marks, including PAUL & DOMINIC COLNAGHI & CO., PUBLISHERS TO HER MAJESTY QUEEN VICTORIA, and DAY & SON, LITHOGRAPHERS TO THE QUEEN. Includes Certificate of Authenticity from The Map House, London, U.K. and background information on artist and work (attached to verso). Presented in a decorative linen matte and elegantly framed. Work Size: 13 x 17.75 in.
