Description
A very nice percussion half-stock fowler (shotgun) by William Wingert of Detroit. Circa 1850s - 1860s. Full length, well made, not messed with. Good wood and metal. Wingert was a prolific and respected gun maker, a few companies of Michigan Sharpshooters during the Civil War carried Wingert plains rifles, namely those attached to 16th Michigan Infantry.... Wm. Wingert worked as a gunsmith in Detroit from 1837 to 1867, at which time he sold his business to Fisher & Long. He also had a brother listed as a gunsmith in Detroit, John A. Wingert who worked from 1845 to 1867....Crude wooden ramrod. Materials, Packing, and UPS Shipping on this item is $45.00. Insurance is $1.50 per hundred.
