Ames Mexican War Era Model 1840 Cavalry Saber
36 in. curved blade, the ricasso stamped "CABOTVIILLE / 184--" on the right and "U - / - WR" on the left, the brass pommel stamped by inspector "J. W. R.' (James Wolfe Ripley, 1843-1855), brass guard over wooden grip wrapped in leather secured by brass wire; iron scabbard with two suspension loops.
