Native American, Alaska, Inuit, Aleutian, or Punuk peoples, Pre-Contact period, ca. 100 to 1000 CE. An intriguing tool made of bone, likely whale or walrus, with a stone set at the end for scraping. The bone is a singular piece with a tapering handle which flares to a wider end that has been carved for inserting the stone blade. The stone is knapped with a sharp and slightly curved cutting edge. The stone is securely wedged into the end of the bone and likely made an excellent cutting or scraping tool. Size: 7.25" L x 1.75" W (18.4 cm x 4.4 cm)

Condition
Stable fissures on bone around opening. Natural ossification of the bone with nicks and abrasions to surfaces. Nice patina to bone and mineral deposits on the stone.
