Description
Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built earthenware double flute of long twin tubular construction, with twin mouthpieces, and each side presenting four pitch or key holes, making eight in total. A peaceful avian - with nicely delineated crest feathers, wings, tail feathers, and open beak - is perched upon the end closer to the double mouthpiece. A lovely musical instrument from the ancient Colima culture! Please note, lucite stand in photos is not included. Size: 12.375" L x 1.625" W x 1.5" H (31.4 cm x 4.1 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
