19th Century Bronze Mounted Sevres Style Turquoise Ground Porcelain Vase and Cover. Painted with a continuous autumnal scene of youths at play with a trapped bird, in a rustic landscape, wearing 18th Century dress by Marie Demonceaux. The scene signed M. Demonceaux to lower panel. Probably Limoges, France, for the vases; the paintings, possibly done in Lyons or Limoges. Circa 1885. 22 1/2". Property from the Estate of Arthur Thomson, San Francisco, CA.Madamoiselle Marie Demonceaux (B. Lyons France, c. 1845) is recorded as showing porcelain works entitled The Triomphe de Flore after Callet and Tsigane Valaque after M. Vernet-Lecomte at the Salons of 1874 and 1878. {Condition: The cover cracked in half, professionally reglued and repainted; the cover is now affixed to ormolu mounts. One handle broken off, and reglued;, with the lower terminate replaced. The professional repainting now visible. Short, 1" lateral crack near upper terminate. Minor wear to gilding.}.
