Description
French Ormolu and Sevres Style Porcelain Plateau. The gilt-bronze base of tripodal form, designed as monopedia supporting shield shaped panels, above a gadrooned and scroll foot base. The three tiers made of two Sevres-style plates in sizes, below a cup; painted with blue and gilt ribbons. The central pillar of steel, and with gilt-bronze foliate supports, topped by an acorn. Not marked. French. The base appears to date from the mid-19th Century. The porcelain dates to circa 1860. The plateau most likely made in first decades of 20th Century. 20 1/2" H. 10" Diam. Base 5 1/2" W. Property from the Estate of Arthur Thomson, San Francisco, CA. The cup has a spiral hairline crack; the plates show white flecks from not being moved at time of room painting. Each plate has enamel wear and some gilt losses.
