SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA "TOUCHING STARS" PIECED QUILT, hand-stitched, solid red, pink print, and chrome yellow print fabrics on solid white, nine whole blocks and three half-blocks of large eight-point stars, three sides with sawtooth border, having outline, plume wreath, leaf motif, and scalloped quilting, narrow back-over-front binding, four-paneled plain backing. Circa 1870. 96" x 84".
Fair to good overall condition, top with toning along edges and fold lines, scattered stains, one through hole near center of one corner star, some color fabrics with fading, chrome yellow fabric with some typical losses to brown color on print, binding with wear and tears, backing with toning notably to fold lines and edges, scattered stains, and a couple of holes.
