SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA PIECED QUILTS, LOT OF TWO, hand-stitched, comprising a "Lone Star" example with top featuring blue and pink solid and print fabrics, star made of over 375 pieces, allover grid quilting, back-over-front binding, two-paneled print backing; and a "Double Irish Chain" example with solid pink, floral print, and solid white fabrics, 40 pattern blocks alternating with white blocks having applied square corners, floret motif and grid quilting, double border with pieced corners and sawtooth quilting, applied pink binding, two-paneled plain backing. First half 20th century. Lone Star example 78 1/2" x 60".
Lone Star with top in very good overall condition having spots of light fading, some toning, binding and backing in fair to good condition with overall toning, spots of fading, and bleeding of pink color; Irish Chain in very good overall condition, top with scattered stains and spots, some bleached spots on border, backing in similar condition with some toning.
