Description

Shoulder cloth, limar selendang, shoulder cloth of weft faced fabric with ikat dyed silk weft over a bast fiber warp. Center field has a patola influenced grid pattern of diamonds enclosing flowers. End borders with pattern of small tumpals and simple flow. Medium: silk weft, bast fiber warp; weft ikat, Indonesia, probably early 19th century. Provenance: The Roger Hollander Collection. Size: 85'' x 31.5'', (216 x 80 cm).
