Description
Neoclassicistic marble torso modeled on an antique Artemis statue, ca. 1800 - early 19th centuryBelow-life-sized marble torso, dressed in a chiton and a cloak draped over one shoulder. The chiton is belted on the upper body and falls downwards with a fine fold. Position in contrapposto with the body slightly bent in an S-shape and the right standing leg and the left free leg. Height ca. 83 cm (with base 100 cm), width ca. 52 cm, depth ca. 30 cm.Provenance: From the collection of Dr. H. Lanz, Munich. Acquired in the 1980s from a French private collection in Antibes.Condition: II -
