Description
A superb example of a true workhorse diving helmet made by Craftsweld Equipment Corporation. This helmet was custom ordered on February 25th, 1973 and sent to the Intercounty Construction Corp in Washington, DC. This company was doing various jobs, including bridgework that likely required the use of a diver. The helmet was lightly used and then put away, preserved in the beautiful original state as seen in the photos.
The photos hopefully convey just how nice of an original example this is. The factory applied tinning is almost totally intact and has a nice patina. All the factory installed hardware is present, including the window frames, brails and wing nuts, exhaust, communications and air fittings. The copper body is in almost like new condition with no notable dents or damage. The bonnet and breastplate fit together with ease and the large rubber neck ring gasket is present. A Schrader non-return valve is present on the air elbow along with a short length of communications wire. Inside the bonnet the air vents are perfect. The factory installed communications speaker is still intact. It would be challenging to find a more outstanding example!
All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity. The display stand shown in the photos is not included. The option to purchase one after the auction will be provided.
All items will be shipped with a signature required upon delivery and full insurance either via FedEx or the USPS. Worldwide shipping available. A shipping quote prior to the auction can be provided by emailing your postal code.
