DEREK BOSHIER (British b. 1937) A PAINTING AND A SKETCH, "David Brauer on Planet Vasari Centauri," AND "Brauernaut," 2018, comprising one painting and one drawing, "David Brauer on Planet Vasari Centauri," 2018, oil on canvas, signed, titled, and dated verso in permanent marker. 48" x 24"; together with "Brauernaut," n.d., ink on paper sketch. 7 1/2" x 8 1/2". Note: David Brauer made Houston his permanent home after traveling to witness a space launch at NASA's Johnson Space Center. His personal collection boasted many books, films, ephemera objects, and photographs documenting space travel and study. This passion earned him the nickname "Brauernaut" with Derek Boshier. This 2018 portrait depicts Brauer holding a book by Giorgio Vasari, the 16th-century Italian painter, architect, writer, and historian standing quite comfortably on a hot orange martian landscape with a spacecraft looming in the distance.  Provenance: Both works exhibited in "AN ART HISTORIAN COLLECTS: The David E.
