Description
Clay model Hummel, Happy Pastime. This piece is hand sculpted for the Millers' by M. Oliver. Mr. Oliver was, at that time, a young American sculptor working for Goebel, who occasionally toured the United States. This piece is one of two hand sculpted figurines we bought at the 3rd Miller auction. Has incised on back "6/18/2000 M Oliver". Clay model measures approx. 5 1/2" tall, wood base is 7" x 5". No box. See our other auction lots for more rare large and small M.I. Hummel and Goebel figurines. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
