**First Time At Auction**
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A lovely glass bottle that is free-blown from translucent glass of a yellow-green color. The apple-shaped vessel sits atop a squat foot and had a slightly concave neck base, a cylindrical neck, and a fire-polished lip. A thin trail of glass is applied around the middle of the neck for decorative purposes, and brilliant areas of rainbow iridescence have formed across the exterior. Size: 3.6" W x 4.6" H (9.1 cm x 11.7 cm)
Provenance: private Virginia, USA collection, acquired between 1968 and 1969 in Izmir, Turkey

Extensive encrustations across much of body, with light weathering film and abrasions to body and neck, otherwise intact and very good. Great rainbow iridescence in several areas.
