John Quinn, a prominent New York attorney, was one of America's foremost patrons of Modern art from 1911 until his death in 1924. He was one of the leaders of the aesthetic revolution in the years leading up to and following the First World War. He personally collected well over 2000 paintings, prints, drawings sculpures and manuscripts by more than 150 modern artists. This exhibition catalog goes a long way to document John Quinn's collecting activities and vision of art for the masses. The Smithsonian assembled a portion of Quinn's vase collection for a formidable exhibition.
