Description
**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast Mexico, Veracruz (Vera Cruz), ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A hollow warrior figure made from buff clay with almond-shaped eyes, a toothy mouth, full lips, and a triangular nose, all beneath a striped headdress with a thick chin strap. He boasts several discoid plates on his shoulders, each with an incised cross pattern, with a twisted neck band that may have held an elaborate cloak. Colored with bituminous pigment, this is a fine example from ancient Mexico! Size: 6.125" W x 8" H (15.6 cm x 20.3 cm).
