**First Time At Auction**
Europe, Northern Europe / England / Scotland, ca. 16th to 17th century. A skillfully hand-carved decorative wood panel of an openwork abstract vegetal motif resembling the stained glass window of a Gothic cathedral backed by a wooden slab. The piece features lovely swirling designs of arches, pointed arches, tear-drop shapes, hearts, quatrefoils, astroids, and plenty of other petaloid decorations. A metal hook is placed on top for suspension and display. This gorgeous carving likely adorned a cathedral in Northern Europe, Scotland, or England. Size: 7.625" W x 14.125" H (19.4 cm x 35.9 cm)
Provenance: ex-Estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, acquired before 2000
