Henry St John Bolingbroke was an 18th-century English politician who was a notable proponent of the Jacobite Rebellion and the overthrow of King George I. He wrote numerous letters and essays concerning numerous topics including reflections on philosophy and science principles. One of his more controversial essays was ‘On the Propagation of Error and Superstition’, which was included in his complete works, published by Mallet in 1754. This set also includes his letters to Alexander Pope.
