⁂ Three works by or about Henry Vane (1613-62), parliamentarian who helped draw up the Solemn League and Covenant with the Scots and one-time governor of Massachusetts. Following the Restoration he continued to espouse his anti-monarchist views and was executed at Tower Hill. Pepys was present and recorded the execution in his diaries.
