Description
Southeast Asia, Thailand, Cambodia, or South Vietnam, late Khmer Empire, ca. 14th century CE. A slender cylindrical finial meant to attach to the end of a pole that is cast from brass via the lost wax technique. The body is composed with a quartet of incised rings that give the appearance of three narrow sections, and the top bears a border of outward-curving petals that surround a tiered, conical flower. Layers of orange, light brown, and faint green patina have formed across the finial. Size: 10.25" L x 2.1" W (26 cm x 5.3 cm)
