Description
Ca. 1800, Newburyport MA, David Wood (1756-1847) signed Grandfather clock. A removable bonnet with finely executed fretwork and three period brass finials, turned columns and a period glass door, which reveals the original painted moon phase dial, signed David Wood Newburyport. A cherry case with superior inlays including corner fans, oval and cross banding, raised on the original bracket base with Ogee feet. Includes weights, pendulum, and winding key. 92”H x 18.5”W x 11.5”D.
Condition
Very minor restorations, some inlay loss, craquelure/paint lifting on dial.
