Description
This lot consists of an ink and watercolor illustration on paper. A playful rendering of "The Cat In the Hat", a cartoon character created by Dr. Seuss. Done in the fantastical style of famed illustrator Theodor Seuss Geisel (American, 1904-1991). Handwritten inscription at right reads, "Dr. Seuss". Overall unframed dimensions approximately 8.5" x 5.5".
Theodor Seuss Geisel (American, 1904-1991), commonly known as "Dr. Seuss", was an American children's author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet, animator, screenwriter, and filmmaker. Seuss distinguished himself early on with his professional work in advertising art. With the onset of WWII, Seuss turned his creative powers toward political cartooning, and lastly came to design for books and film. Some of his most iconic characters include the Cat in the Hat, Sam I Am, Thing One and Thing Two, and many, many more.

Overall fair condition. Horizontal crease evident at center of composition. Light toning and age-related discoloration evident upon close inspection. Image itself remains bold and clear. Please see photos for additional reference.
