Wells and his companion Florida Highwaymen were young 1950s and 1960s era African American landscape artists mentored by Albert Ernest (Beanie) Backus (American, 1906-1990), who was regarded as the Dean of Florida Painters. Presented in a rustic period wood frame. Good overall condition, water staining to the back of board, and some minor loss and wear to frame. Measures 24 in. x 36 in. (board), 27 1/4 in. x 39 1/4 in.
