Description
American. 1840s. Empire style. Mahogany double door with full rounded columns with Corinthian capitals. Decorative cornice top with mirror (missing). Wooden dial with Roman numerals - gilded. Eight-day time and strike, brass strap rivetted weight driven movement with tapered top and swiss cheese cut out wheels, side arm holding strike levers. Label marked, "Patent Brass Eight Day Clocks Made & Sold by C. & L.C. Ives, Bristol, Conn". 36" (h); 20" (w); 6" (d). Bottom glass broken. Middle glass is Fleur-de-Lys replacement. Lower glass is original with flaking and is cracked. Dial has flaking - poor. There are no hands and there are minor veneer chips. Feet are missing. Dick Withington collection.
