Description
Giovanni Antonio Canal (Italian, 1697-1768). Original antique 18th Century topographical landscape etching depicting a tower and two ruined columns with a human figure in the foreground. The artist, commonly known as Canaletto, is considered an important member of the 18th Century Venetian school. A large collection of his works was purchased in 1762 by King George III and comprises part of the Royal Collection of the British Royal family, the largest private art collection in the world. Presented in a protective cardboard matte. Good overall condition. Measures 6 in. x 8 1/2 in. (sight), 16 in. x 20 in. (matte). Sold unframed.
