Amazing Gustave Gutgemon original oil canvas, beautiful landscape. It is missing some paint on the top left and bottom right, see pictures for details. 37 X 31 inches. Provenance: private owner.
Biography: Gustave Gutgemon, a portrait painter and muralist, was one of six artists who in 1899 produced a cyclorama depicting the Battle of Manila. Their work toured the nation.In 1906 he painted three large murals that still adorn the stairway of the Syracuse courthouse.Gutgemon's studio was a converted stable at the rear of 31 Stuyvesant Avenue, Lyndenhurst.
