Description
A rare pair of Egyptian bronze knives, New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, a type as Flinders Petrie described as ‘almost peculiar to Egypt’, each formed from sheet metal, the blade pounded flat with sharpened edges and rounded end, the handle narrow with widening at end. Largest 4 ¾ in (12.1 cm). Nicely patinated, the second with tip missing. Cf. Petrie, Tools and Weapons, (Oxford, 1917), pp. 26-7, pl. XXXI for the type; Ex Orange County private collection.
